10 Interior Tips from Roman and Williams That Make a Big Impact

Roman and Williams can transform any room into an extraordinary and memorable space that seems to exist outside the parameters of time. We asked them for some ideas to steal.

Paint your window frames a dark color.
Black is our preference, but a gray or dusty dark purple also really makes a great contrast with a lighter wall.

Flowers are the brightest color in the room.
Even fresh flowers added to a dried arrangement have an impact. Change color with the seasons and your home is always alive. We love a pretty monochrome palate, but a blast of color from nature is always welcome.

Lights, lights, lights!
From an incredible fixture to a paper lantern, put big and small lights in unexpected areas, and lots of them, to make a statement. Lighting is such an important part of creating atmosphere; it adds that cinematic rosy glow. The more the merrier.

When in doubt, paint it.
When there’s a questionable piece of furniture from your grandma or an inexpensive desk from the flea market, paint it: Black, cream, gray or RED! Sometimes giving it just a dip on the legs, like socks on a chair, can be fun.

Paint your bedroom a dark soothing color.
We like to use dusty blue or purple, or gray, like an elephant. It will help you sleep and creates a wonderful serene space.

Splurge on a great paint in certain areas.
Fine Paints of Europe, or Farrow & Ball are great choices. These can go far, especially on the windows or on any piece of furniture.

Add layers.
Pile large round coffee tables with books and objects.

Collect artwork on one topic, and suddenly you have a collection!
It can be big or small, paper or paint. We used the sea as our inspiration and collected them for almost a year—it makes a great picture collection.

Books are essential and can be used everywhere.
The great thing about books is they are beautiful and endlessly entertaining and educational.

Use edible décor in the kitchen.
It keeps your kitchen alive and active. So, put a pile of grapes on a table and make some juice with them, or a pile of lemons and make some lemonade.
