3 Updates to Give New Life to Your Bathroom
When was the last time you really enjoyed being in your bathroom, not because you were pampering yourself, but because you loved just being in the room? Unless your bathroom is already amazing, it probably wasn’t any time recently. Bathroom remodels can take your ordinary bathroom and turn it into something extraordinary that you will adore.
Replace the Tub
Few things in life feel more relaxingly luxurious than taking a long, warm soak in a bathtub. If your tub isn’t giving you a comfortable soak, it’s time to consider replacing it. You should definitely replace it if you notice signs that indicate it’s time: it has stains that won’t come clean, it leaks, there is mold or mildew. If you have difficulty getting in or out, or it isn’t comfortable to sit or lay in it, it’s time to check out new models. With so many to choose from today, there’s something for every body and every budget. Keep in mind that this is not an appropriate project to DIY. You should have an experienced plumber handle the removal and installation of a new tub.
Replace the Sink
Similarly, replacing your sink can be a great way to upgrade your bathroom’s style and replace a fixture that may be old and ready to go. A new sink can revitalize the whole look of the room. There are tons of different styles, shapes, and sizes of sinks and vanities, so you should be able to find something that speaks to you and fits in with your chosen interior design style for your bathroom. Make sure you consider who will be using the bathroom most frequently when choosing a sink. A style that might be great for you might not be so good for a toddler or small child.
Replace the Shower
If you have issues with the shower doors, water leaks that are causing mold and mildew, or stains or rust that won’t come clean, it’s time to install a new shower. Shower doors that won’t slide easily or have cracks or chips will continue to get worse over time. Some water leaks might mean the shower needs a little caulk which is an easy fix. However, water pooling might mean the pipes have sprung a leak from behind the wall and it’s time to call a plumber. Passing on routine maintenance in your shower could cause fixtures to rust or fail. If you have stains that won’t come clean, it may be time for a new shower.
If you want to really update the look of your bathroom, consider changing your shower to be an open concept shower. This style of shower can be wonderfully practical since you have less glass you’d have to clean. It also can really open up the bathroom and give it a more spacious feel, even if it isn’t actually any bigger. Keep in mind that you may have to have more waterproofing done to the rest of the bathroom. You’ll also need to make sure the shower drains well to avoid water spreading outside of the shower.
Some remodeling projects in particular have the ability to dramatically increase the level of enjoyment you get out of being in your bathroom. Adding a new tub, replacing your sink, and transitioning to an open concept shower can be a great way to add your own style to your bathroom. As an added bonus, you can give it a more contemporary look in addition to transforming it into a room you genuinely enjoy being in.
