Design Inspiration Is All Around You

Are you working with a design problem or looking for that … you’ll know what it is when you see it but you just can’t define it at the moment … piece.

Take 10, head outdoors. Take a walk around the block, go to the park, or stroll along the beach. Allow yourself to be mindful of the clues your environment is sending you. They’re everywhere. When I’m having difficulty with a design element, I go outside and remind myself of the Sense of Place. I hope this works for you too!

I apologize for not updating the blog in so long. I got an email today from Interiors and Sources (oh! I’m giving away all the trade secrets here!) and it reminded me of why the process of design is so important. Beautiful and functional design goes beyond opening a catalog or visiting a showroom to pick out pretty things. There has to be a connection – there has to be a Sense of Place.
