Creating living room of your social media dreams creates a space that is pleasant to be in while at the same time making every other participant on your Zoom call want to step up their game as well. Here are a few of my favorite tips to update your living room. 

Bring in Natural Light

Adding natural light to your living room can help to brighten it and even make it feel bigger. Natural light also helps to add more depth to photos and it just creates a cheerful living space. The main way to increase natural light is through reflection. Try adding a mirror or another reflective surface across from windows. You can also include shiny furniture to increase the amount of reflected light. You can also increase light by trimming bushes and trees outside your home and regularly cleaning your windows. Sheer curtains are also a good option as they still offer privacy while allowing light into the room.

Hang Wallpaper

Wallpaper is experiencing a revitalization with new styles and patterns becoming popular home additions. Adding wallpaper is a great way to make a statement. You can try out a bold floral pattern or a geometric one with bright colors to contrast or compliment your style. Whatever you choose to update your living room, it will stand out and add some visual excitement. Wallpaper can also be a wonderful way to unify your design. Starting with the walls, you can begin to create a cohesive space. The wallpaper will ground your design and you can build off of it. Wallpaper is also a great way to add more of a visual element to your living room without having to add a lot of decoration.

Declutter

To make your living room photogenic, you should start by decluttering your space. Having too many knick-knacks on shelves or tables can look messy or distracting in photos or on that Zoom call. You want people looking at you, not your dusty travel souvenirs. It makes more of a statement in photos if you feature one larger item like a plant. To get your living room photo-ready, start by removing anything that doesn’t belong in the living room. Next, make sure everything has a place by adding storage that is functional but still looks nice.
