Simple Kitchen Fixes That Can Make a Dramatic Difference
Your kitchen is the hardest working room in the house. Even if you don’t cook at all, everyone needs into the refrigerator at some point in the day. To keep your kitchen functional and fun, there are simple changes you can make to make the room both cheerful and functional.
Brighten Up the Room
As a working room, your kitchen needs a great coat of durable paint. If you’re working with a painting contractor, you should follow a few tips to make sure the experience goes smoothly. For projects such as painting your cabinets, be ready to pack up the space while the painters go to town. While the cabinets are empty, this is an excellent time to install LED under-cabinet lighting to provide you with proper task lighting.
Once the painting is done, you can move into a beautifully appointed kitchen space and have a whole new room without the hassle of moving.
Replace Countertops
Not all old countertop material may not easily appear to be damaged and some surfaces become so worn they show every water spot or scar. Countertops take up a lot of real estate in your kitchen so if they’re more than tired or worn out, changing them can really brighten the space. Granite, quartz, or marble are the favorite and top design trends right now but can be hard on the budget. Check out a laminate overlay – they’re doing amazing things with faux materials right now! Be aware that you will either need to have this installed by a professional or invest in a router to cut the sink hole. Another option is to install a ceramic large scale format tile countertop. You wouldn’t believe the new tile products and all of their uses!
Invest in Storage
You don’t need a huge pantry or even a designated pantry space to create great storage. If you’ve been struggling to come up with more kitchen storage, consider adding a narrow pull-out pantry cabinet to slide in beside the refrigerator. In a very small footprint, you can store multiple canned goods for future use. An old or new wardrobe cabinet can easily be turned into a pantry. Use sturdy cardboard bins to catch small bags and boxes. Wrap the bins in bright paper or a pretty fabric and add a label for long term use.
Your kitchen space needs to work effectively for you and your loved ones. Whether you want a fresh coat of paint, a new countertop or a fun and functional pantry, a great coat of paint is the first step to a useful and beautiful kitchen space.
