Three Important Things Your Air BnB Space Needs Before You Start

Most of us feel we would benefit from a little extra income. For those with extra space in or around the house, turning it into an Airbnb rental space may be a good option. Of course, many people are a bit wary of traveling at the moment and that’s understandable. However, now is the perfect time to prepare your space for when things go back to normal. So what are some features that are absolute musts for an Airbnb rental space?

The Basics

The most basic of features can be easily overlooked, but that doesn’t make them any less important. If anything, it makes them even more important, since they are so common that their presence is often taken for granted. Basic features or amenities include things like having at least one set of towels for each guest, a set of linens for each bed, a pillow for each guest, toilet paper, and hand and body soaps. You could always do a little extra and provide additional towels and linens, shampoos and conditioners, hangers, dishes and utensils, and basic cooking supplies.

Important Amenities

Other amenities aren’t technically needs but are still important. Being able to connect to the internet has become expected virtually anywhere, so make sure you have a WiFi connection set up that your guests can use. Your guests will want to stay comfortable as well, so keep your rental’s HVAC system in good working order. No one wants to stay somewhere where they can’t escape from the heat of summer or get warm in the winter. There are some simple furnace repair tricks you can use to keep your furnace running smoothly. Alternatively, you can opt to leave it to the pros if you’re not able to handle it yourself.

Safety Features

Safety features are another must for rental spaces, though the extent to which you take this is entirely up to you. At a bare minimum, your space should have secure locks on the doors and windows, and have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed. Keep a fire extinguisher somewhere that is easily accessible, as well as a well-stocked first aid kit. It’s also a good idea to have an emergency plan posted somewhere visible, along with local emergency contact information.

There are a lot of features that you could include in an Airbnb rental space but don’t necessarily need to. Others, such as basic features and amenities and safety features, are less of an option and more of a need. Make sure you include these in your rental space to have it properly suitable for any guests you may have.
